Types of memberships

FCLIR offers two types of membership:

  • FULL MEMBERS may participate in seminars and all other programs and may vote in annual elections and on other matters that may be submitted to the membership for consideration.
  • ASSOCIATE MEMBERS may not vote or participate in seminars, but they enjoy all other benefits of membership. Associate membership is available for individuals who have previously been full members.


Please also consider adding a small donation to our Membership Assistance Fund. This will help FCLIR make its programs available to all.


Membership dues are set annually by Council. The Membership Assistance Fund, funded by generous donations from fellow members, makes FCLIR membership available to everyone.

First-time members qualify for a discounted rate in order to see if FCLIR is right for them, and are guaranteed a spot in their first-choice seminar (excluding Writing to Remember), provided they register before the “lottery deadline” that marks the end of each initial registration period.

The membership year runs from May 1 to April 30 of the following year. The dues schedule for 2024-2025 is:

  • $250 FULL MEMBERSHIP for returning members, 2024-2025
  • $200 FULL MEMBERSHIP for first-time members, 2024-2025
  • $125 ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP, 2024-2025
  • Assistance for individuals experiencing financial hardship is available. If you check this box on the form, you will be shown a line where you can choose a reduced rate.

How to join

Please complete and submit our online membership form, whether you plan to pay online or by check.

ONLINE PAYMENT IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. If you elect to pay online, then when you click the SUBMIT button at the bottom of the completed form, you will be redirected to PayPal, where you can make your payment online with no additional fees.

If you prefer to pay by check, then select that option on the form. Please make your check payable to “Five Colleges, Inc.” and write “FCLIR membership” in the memo line. Mail your check to:

In either case, once you click SUBMIT you should receive a confirmation email with the information that you submitted on the form. If you do not receive this email, please contact the office to request a copy.
