Someone once quipped that Thomas Hardy had the good fortune to be one of the finest novelists of the 19th century and one of the finest poets of the 20th century. We will read two of his many popular novels, Far from the Madding Crowd and The Mayor of Casterbridge, and study several of his poems.
Any unabridged editions of the novels may be used. Copies of poems will be provided by the moderator.
Afternoon seminars meet from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm.
