PURPOSE:

The purpose of this seminar is to understand the reasons the Puritans left their homes in England for the rigors of New England and how they created their communities in Massachusetts.

DESCRIPTION:

In this seminar, we will study the way of life of the Puritans and the way they dealt with challenging circumstances, both in England and then in the New World. The seminar will proceed with two presentations per week. We will confine ourselves to the period from 1628 to 1691.

ROLE OF PARTICIPANTS: Working with the moderator, participants will research a topic and give a one-hour presentation, including a group discussion. In addition, they will be asked to read some related material identified by the moderator.
