Revisiting places we’ve been

Moderator: Jeanne Ballantine

Details

minar.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the seminar is to compare past work/travel experiences in a country or region with the area’s current situation.

DESCRIPTION:

Remember Europe on 5 Dollar a Day, Michelin guides, Choose Your Own Adventure books, and backpacking adventures to newly accessible countries. Or perhaps you had a research opportunity, job or volunteer position involving travel to distant lands. In this seminar, we’ll share information on our past adventures, including some historical background, and provide updates about that location such as the current political, cultural, religious and environmental status, natural sites, and any other topics relevant to the country or region’s current situation. Discussion of how our travel experiences have impacted our lives will be part of the seminar.

ROLE OF PARTICIPANTS: Participants will give a 30 to 40-minute presentation of any type on an area they have visited anywhere in the world, discussing their personal experiences and providing relevant updates on the area.
RESOURCES:

There are no required readings.

ABOUT THE MODERATOR: Jeanne has traveled and taught in many countries, and taught relevant courses such as Global Studies, Population Issues, and Women around the World.
