DESCRIPTION:

This participatory seminar explores influential women painters working in the United States during the 21st century. Participants will examine the lives, artistic development, and major works of contemporary artists, including figures such as Julie Mehretu, Amy Sherald, Mickalene Thomas, Mary Whyte, and Keiko Tanabe.

ROLE OF PARTICIPANTS: Each participant will select one artist from a curated list and present a short overview of the artist’s life, work, influences, and artistic techniques. Presentations will serve as the basis for discussion about contemporary art movements, artistic identity, and evolving painting traditions.
RESOURCES:

A basic outline will be provided.

ABOUT THE MODERATOR: I am a vacation watercolorist and thought it would just be interesting to explore current women artists with other people.

Seminar will run for 7 weeks.

Morning seminars run from 9:30 am – 11:30 am.
