This presentation focuses on the life and works of Andrew Wyeth and his thirty year relationship with Christina Olson. How did this 54 year old, handicapped woman end up in the field? Where was she going and who was she? “Christina’s World” was painted in 1948. It became one of the most recognized and beloved American paintings and is the most requested painting at MOMA. But the critics reviews were mixed. He was accused of rejecting abstract expressionism, and his focus on details and realism relegated him to America’s past artistic traditions.
An Encore! program from the Spring 2025 seminar The Wyeths and presented by Terry Rosenfeld.
